handle is hein.cow/anamacp0294 and id is 1 raw text is: FOREWORD With the exception of the article by Mr. Tatsuo Morito, the papers in this vol- ume of THE ANNALS are addresses presented at the Annual Meeting of The Academy, April 2 and 3, 1954. Each of the six sessions of the Annual Meeting was devoted to a single subject- the relations between the United States and a particular country or region in Asia. It was not the purpose of the meeting to air disputes between Asian countries, hence the differences between Pakistan and India, between Israel and her Arab neighbors, between North and South Korea, and between the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are alluded to but are not elucidated. Because of the unavoidable absence of Dr. Halford L. Hoskins, his paper was read and discussed by Dr. George A. Codding, Jr., of the Department of Political Science of the University of Pennsylvania.
