                   PROVIDING FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE SENATE AMENDMENTS TO
                   THE BILL (H.R. 1833) TO AMEND TITLE 18, UNITED STATES CODE, TO
                   BAN PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTIONS

                            Mrs. WALDHOLTZ, from the Committee on Rules,
                                       submitted the following


                                            REPORT

                                        [To accompany H. Res. 389]
                     The Committee on Rules, having had under consideration House
                   Resolution 389, by a nonrecord vote, report the same to the House
                   with the recommendation that the resolution be adopted.
                            BRIEF SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS OF RESOLUTION
                     The resolution provides for the consideration of the Senate
                   amendments to the bill (H.R. 1833) to amend title 18, United
                   States Code, to ban partial-birth abortions.
                     The rule provides a single motion to concur in each of the Senate
                   amendments.
                     The rule further provides that the Senate amendments and the
                   motion shall be considered as read and shall be debatable for one
                   hour equally divided and controlled by the chairman and ranking
                   minority member of the Committee on the Judiciary.
                     Finally, the rule provides that the previous question shall be con-
                   sidered as ordered on the motion to final adoption without inter-
                   vening motion or demand for division of the question.
