                                          PURPOSE   AND  SUMMARY

                      The  DHS   Biodetection Improvement   Act, directs the Secretary
                    of the Department   of Homeland   Security (DHS)  to conduct  an as-
                    sessment  of how  DHS  has  utilized the Department  of Energy's na-
                    tional laboratories and  sites to address homeland   security needs.
