The Committee on Education and the Workforce, to whom was
referred the joint resolution (H.J. Res. 88) providing for congres-
sional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code,
of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to
Improving Income Driven Repayment for the William D. Ford Fed-
eral Direct Loan Program and the Federal Family Education Loan
(FFEL) Program, having considered the same, reports favorably
thereon without amendment and recommends that the joint resolu-
tion do pass.
PURPOSE
The purpose of H.J. Res 88 is to disapprove of the rule related
to Improving Income Driven Repayment for the William D. Ford
Federal Direct Loan Program and the Federal Family Education
Loan (FFEL) Program that was first announced on August 24,
2022, and published as a final regulation in the Federal Register
on July 10, 2023.
