CBO's Work in Progress as ofJuly 2, 2019

As of July 2, the Congressional Budget Office was working on 95 cost estimates for bills that have
been ordered reported by a committee or are the subject of a motion to be placed on the consensus
calendar (see Table 1). (In the first half of 2019, CBO published 263 cost estimates.)

The agency was also working on 20 analytic reports and working papers it expects to complete in the
coming months for which the plan to publish them is public. As usual, CBO will undertake
additional reports throughout the year. (In the first half of 2019, CBO published 39 analytic reports
and working papers.)'

One forthcoming report is statutorily required: An Update to the Budget and Economic Outlook.

Several other reports under way are editions of reports that CBO produces on a regular basis to
provide budgetary or economic information:

* The Distribution ofHousehold Income, 2016 (published July 9),

* Monthly Budget Review for June 2019 (published July 8),

* CBO ' 2019 Long- Term Projections for Social Security: Additional Information,

* Long- Term Implications of the 2020 Future Years Defense Program,

* An Analysis of the Navy s 2020 Shipbuilding Plan, and

* CBO ' Projections ofFederal Receipts and Expenditures in the National Income and Product
    Accounts.

Others explain the analytical methods that underlie CBO's work:

1 About a month ago, CBO adopted the practice of reporting on its ongoing work. See Congressional
Budget Office, letter to the Honorable Mike Enzi on CBO's work in progress (June 5, 2019),
www.cbo.gov/publication/55330. Beginning with this document, CBO plans to issue such reports on a
quarterly schedule.
