In 2019, NOAA allocated $76 million to coastal management grants for the 34 coastal states and territories participating in the program. Using information from NOAA on the historical amount of funding provided for coastal management assistance relative to the size of the coastal zones covered, CBO estimates that making the District of Columbia eligible to receive such assistance would cost less than $500,000 over the 2020-2024 period.
