The Honorable Pete Stark

Dear Mr. Chairman:
The enclosed tables provide preliminary Congressional Budget Office estimates
of the budgetary and enrollment effects of the Children's Health and Medicare
Protection Act of 2007 (CHAMP Act), based on the version of the legislation that
was made public by the Committees on Ways and Means and Energy and
Commerce on July 24, 2007.
I understand that you are currently writing a revised version of the legislation, and
that the Committees will consider the revised versions during your respective
markups. CBO will provide updated figures for the revised versions of the
legislation as soon as we have completed our analyses.
Please feel free to contact me directly at (202) 226-2700 if you have any
