handle is hein.congrec/cbo3889 and id is 1 raw text is: CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE a COST ESTIMATE October 19, 2017 H.R. 1066 VA Management Alignment Act of 2017 As ordered reported by the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs on October 12, 2017 H.R. 1066 would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), within 180 days of enactment, to submit a report to the Congress on the organizational structure of the department. The bill would direct the report to include the results from existing studies to assess the roles, responsibilities, and accountability of employees and offices within the department and to include recommendations for legislation. Based on an analysis of information from VA about the necessary resources to produce such a report, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2018-2022 period; any such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds. Enacting H.R. 1066 would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you- go procedures do not apply. CBO estimates that enacting H.R. 1066 would not increase net direct spending or on- budget deficits in any of the four consecutive 10-year periods beginning in 2028. H.R. 1066 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act. The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Ann E. Futrell.
