CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE
           COST ESTIMATE

January 30, 2017

                                  H.R. 255
                Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act

As ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
                              on January 24, 2017

H.R. 255 would direct the National Science Foundation (NSF) to encourage its
entrepreneurial programs to recruit and support women to develop commercial
applications of their laboratory research. CBO estimates that implementing the legislation
would have no cost because it assigns no specific tasks to the NSF.

Enacting H.R. 255 would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go
procedures do not apply.

CBO estimates that enacting H.R. 255 would not increase net direct spending or on-budget
deficits in any of the four consecutive 10-year periods beginning in 2028.

H.R. 255 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would impose no costs on state, local, or tribal
governments.

The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Jacob Fabian. The estimate was approved by
H. Samuel Papenfuss, Deputy Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
