                                  H.R. 906
A bill to modify the efficiency standards for grid-enabled water heaters

As ordered reported by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce
                                on April 15, 2015

H.R. 906 would specify energy-efficiency standards for certain water heaters, require
manufacturers of such water heaters and utilities to report to the Secretary of Energy on
their prevalence and use, and direct the Secretary to publish periodic analyses of that
information.

Based on information from the Department of Energy, CBO estimates that the department
would spend less than $100,000 annually to meet new administrative and reporting
requirements under H.R. 906, assuming the availability of appropriated funds. H.R. 906
would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not
apply.

H.R. 906 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act.

The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Megan Carroll. The estimate was approved by
Theresa Gullo, Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
