H.R. 5086
A bill to amend the National Trails System Act to direct the Secretary of
the Interior to conduct a study on the feasibility of designating the
Chief Standing Bear National Historic Trail, and for other purposes
As ordered reported by the House Committee on Natural Resources
on November 19, 2014
H.R. 5086 would require the National Park Service (NPS) to study the feasibility of
designating the Chief Standing Bear Trail in the states of Nebraska and Oklahoma as a
national historic trail. Based on information provided by the NPS, CBO estimates that
implementing the legislation would cost about $500,000 over the next year or two,
assuming availability of appropriated funds. Enacting H.R. 5086 would not affect direct
spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
H.R. 5086 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal
governments.
The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Mark Grabowicz. The estimate was approved by
Theresa Gullo, Deputy Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
