COST ESTIMATE
March 21, 2014
H.R. 3222
Flushing Remonstrance Study Act
As ordered reported by the House Committee on Natural Resources on March 13, 2014
H.R. 3222 would require the National Park Service (NPS) to conduct a study of sites
related to the signing of the Flushing Remonstrance in New York City to determine the
suitability and feasibility of designating the area as a unit of the National Park System.
Based on information provided by the NPS and assuming the availability of appropriated
funds, CBO estimates that carrying out the study required by H.R. 3222 would cost about
$250,000 over the next three years. Enacting H.R. 3222 would not affect direct spending or
revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
H.R. 3222 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal
governments.
The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Martin von Gnechten. The estimate was
approved by Theresa Gullo, Deputy Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
