S. 920
A bill to allow the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
in the State of Minnesota to lease or transfer certain land
As ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs
on October 30, 2013
S. 920 would authorize the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in the state of
Minnesota to lease, sell, or transfer any property that is owned by the tribe but not held in
trust by the federal government for the tribe's benefit. Based on information provided by
the Department of the Interior, CBO estimates that implementing the legislation would
have no impact on the federal budget because the legislation would not affect tribal trust
lands. Enacting S. 920 would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore,
pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
S. 920 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act.
On August 22, 2013, CBO transmitted a cost estimate for H.R. 2650, the Fond du Lac Band
of Lake Superior Chippewa Nonintercourse Act of 2013, as ordered reported by the House
Committee on Natural Resources on July 31, 2013. The two bills are similar, and the CBO
cost estimates are the same.
The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Martin von Gnechten. The estimate was
approved by Theresa Gullo, Deputy Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
