H.R. 829
A bill to amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate
a segment of the Illabot Creek in Skagit County, Washington,
as a component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System
As ordered reported by the House Committee on Natural Resources on April 24, 2013
H.R. 829 would designate an additional 14.3 miles of the Illabot Creek in Washington State
as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. Based on information provided by
the Forest Service and assuming the availability of appropriated funds, CBO estimates that
the agency would spend about $250,000 within two years to complete a management plan
for the affected waterways. Enacting H.R. 829 would not affect direct spending or
revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
H.R. 829 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal
governments.
On April 9, 2013, CBO transmitted a cost estimate for S. 383, a bill to amend the Wild and
Scenic Rivers Act to designate a segment of the Illabot Creek in Skagit County,
Washington, as a component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, as ordered
reported by the Senate Committee on Energy and National Resources on March 14, 2013.
The two bills are similar, and the CBO cost estimates are the same.
The CBO staff contact for this estimate is Jeff LaFave. The estimate was approved by
Theresa Gullo, Deputy Assistant Director for Budget Analysis.
