AMERICAN BAR
CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE
The American Bar Association Commit-
tee on Assistance to Lawyers in Devas-
tated Countries asks its members for their
assistance in getting its program into ac-
tion at the earliest possible date.
The program calls for four specific lines
of action: the distribution of CARE food
and clothing packages to members of the
bar in European countries; collection of
used typewriters and their conversion for
use by judges and lawyers in these coun-
tries; donation of law libraries to bar as-
sociations in key European cities, and co-
operation in International Cultural Ex-
changes in law, etc.
Jacob M. Lashly, 705 Olive Street, St.
Louis, Mo., is national chairman of the
committee.
BEARDSLEY PUBLISHES
NEW EDITION
A second edition of Dr. Arthur S.
Beardsley's well-known text book, Legal
Bibliography and the Use of Law Books,
has just been published by the Foundation
Press, Inc. Co-author of the new edition
is Oscar C. Orman of Washington Uni-
versity, St. Louis.
In their preface to the new edition, the
authors say, in part:
Nearly ten years have passed since the
original publication of this treatise. Dur-
ing this period the legislative and judicial
sources of our written law have been
increasingly productive. Government by
administrative law has matured. Principal
innovations in legal bibliography are the
special lists and guides which have been
prepared for the lawyer and student. The
voids in American legal bibliography are
quickly being filled.
ROSELLINI APPOINTED
Hugh J. Rosellini of Tacoma has been
appointed by the Governor to succeed the
late Edward D. Hodges as judge of the Su-
perior Court for Pierce County.
Judge Rosellini was born in Tacoma in
1909. He took his pre-law work at the
College of Puget Sound and St. Martin's
College and was graduated from the Uni-
versity of Washington Law School in 1933
and was admitted to the bar that same
year.
He has been engaged in general prac-
tice in Tacoma since 1933. He served in
the Washington State Legislature from
1939 to 1946.
