                                         steadily increased with the demands of
                                         modern society have necessarily caused a
                                         step up in the work and authority of the
                                         states' chief law officers.
                                         The great bulk of material which today
                                     constitutes the opinions of the attorneys
                                        general and the collection of proceedings
                                        covering the significant activities of the
                                        National Association of Attorneys General
                                        reveal the prominent role which '.his officer
                                        and his staff play in state government.
