Attorneys, at their best, are sentliels on the lower of freedom, watching for en-
croachments by erbitrary forces and struggling to block them by due process of law.
They know. however, that order Is vital In our society as a companion to freedom and
that the balancing process between these two Is delicate, and never ends, because
freedom without order becomes chaos and order without freedom becomes despotism.
-Jjstice D. Frank Wilkins
