Associate Justice Jeff D. Johnson, Jr.
resigned as member of the Supreme
Court on the 31st day of January, 1959.
Justice Johnson is a former member of
the Board and a former Judge of Su-
perior Court. His retirement, due to
ill health is universally regretted by the
Bar of our State. His presence on the
bench will be sorely missed. We are hope-
ful that his health will permit him to
continue for many years to be a wise
counselor with the intense human touch
which has so justly earned for him the
affection of the Bar, the Courts and the
people of the state.
Judge Clifton L. Moore of Burgaw,
resident Judge of the 5th Judicial Dis-
trict has been appointed Associate Jus-
tice of the Supreme Court replacing
Associate Justice Jeff D. Johnson, Jr.,
retired on the 31st day of January. Jus-
tice Moore took his oath on February 2,
1959.
