1998, Chief Judge Judith Kaye an-
nounced further Initiatives intended to
further reform divorce procedures In
New York State.
In 1993, when new matrimonilal rules
were put into effet, dramatic reductions
In processing divorce cases occured
Measures to streamline court operations,

appointment of an Administralive Judge
to  monitor   matrimonial   matters

gram in the evening at the Nasau
County Supreme Courl The three ses-
sions are geared to educate them as to
the needs of their children and provide
thtm with the information so that they

to work together for the Ixst inten-ts of

the children. It also provides them with
an overvih of the legal process that
they are now going through Over a pe-
riod of a few weeks they meet and hear
from a judge, attorney and mental health
professional familiar with these types of
cases and Issues. The PEACE (Parent
Education and Custody Effectiveness)
program established In Nassau County
through the committed efforts of
Professor Andrew Schepard of I lofstra
Law School, Supreme Court Justice
Joseph A Demam, Family Cnurt Judge
Julianne S Eisman, Stephen Sclhsel
and Sim Ferrara serves as a model for
programs not only statewide but nation.
