DISTRICTS MUST ELECT
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Ir accordance with the bylaws of The Iowa
State Bar Association, members of the Board
of Governors of the Association from the
even-numbered judicial districts are elected
in even-numbered years and members from the
odd-numbered districts are elected in odd-
numbered years. Terms of all members run
for two years.
This year being an odd-numbered year,
new members should be elected by members
of the Association in odd-numbered districts.
Results of elections will be made known as
soon as all have taken place, and the newly
elected board members will meet with the
Board of Governors at the first business meet-
ing held at the conclusion of the annual con-
vention of the Association in May.
Members of the Board of Governors must
be lawyers in active practice and may be elect-
ed in any manner in which the lawyers of the
particular district desire. It Is requested that
the headquarters office be advised as soon as
the elections have taken place.
Districts that should hold the elections and
the names of the outgoing members whose
terms expire are:

COMPREHENSIVE LEGISLATIVE
PROGRAM UNDERWAY
The Association has embarked upon a most
comprehensive legislative program. The pro-
gram listed in order of priority Is set forth
below. By direction of the Board of Gover-
nors, authority has been given the Administra-
tion Committee, the Legislative Committee
Chairman and the Secretary to make such

Don W. Burington, Mason City, was nomi-
nated for President of The Iowa State Bar
Association at the meeting of the Board of
Governors held In Des Moines on February
22, 1969. Ralph W. Bastian, Fort Dodge, was
nominated by the Board for the office of Vice
President.
In accordance with the duties prescribed by
the By-Laws of the Association, the Board of
Governors acted as a Nominating Committee
in selecting these candidates for the year
1969-1970. In nominating Mr. Burington, the
Board followed the Association's tradition of
nominating the incumbent Vice President for
the presidency.
Don W. Burington was born in Pocahontas,
Iowa, In 1908. He received his law degree
from the University of Iowa Law School in
1931 and was admitted to practice In the
same year. He served in the Iowa legislature
in the years 1935-1937 and as Assistant At-
torney General in the years 1937-1939. He Is
a member of the Cerro Gordo County Bar
Association and the American Bar Associa-
tion, served as a member of the Board of Gov-
ernors of The Iowa State Bar Association
since 1966 and during the past year has served
in the office of Vice President of The Iowa
State Bar Association.

Mr. Burington has also served as President
of the Cerro Gordo County Bar Association
and the Twelfth Judicial District Bar Asso-

Hotel Reservations for the 96th An-
nual Meeting of The Iowa State Bar
Association to be held on May 21, 22
and 23, 1969, should be made as soon
as possible in order that all who wish
to attend can obtain rooms.
Hotel Fort Des Moines will be the
headquarters hotel, and rooms may also
be obtained at other Des Moines Hotels.
On May 21 there will be meetings of the
Association committees and affiliated
legal groups and the workshop sessions
of the Annual Meeting will take place
on May 22 and 23.
All members are urged to write the
hotel of their choice immediately and re-
serve a room, indicating in your request
that you are going to attend The Iowa
State Bar Association Annual Meeting.
Do not write the headquarters office,
but do write the hotel of your choice.
