LEGISLATIVE COURT STUDY LAW LISTS APPROVED BY
COMMISSION REPORT LV~LSSAPOE
SUBMITTED TO LEGISLATURE TUE AAED irA DAn

Copies Going Forward to Membership
As of this writing (January 15, 1965) the
report of the Legislative Court Study Com-
mittee created by the Sixtieth General As-
sembly has just been submitted to the lowa
Legislature. No legislative action has as yet
been taken.
The report is very far-reaching and if the
proposals contained therein are adopted, the
practice of law in Iowa and our judiciary
would be profoundly affected. Because the
bar and bench generally have not been given
an opportunity to study and discuss the re-
port the Administration Committee of the
Association directed that a copy of the re-
port be forwarded to every member of the
Association with a covering letter from
President Remley. By the time this issue of
THE NEWS BUILETIN is off the press every
member should have received such report.
Printing and mailing the report has neces-
sitated the expenditure of substantial funds
not contemplated or included in the Assocl-
ation's budget. However, it was felt that
this matter is of such vital importance that
every member should be provided a copy for
Information and study. President Remley is
asking each county and district bar assocla-
tion to hold a special meeting to consider the
report and the recommendations contained
therein and to forward the conclusions reached
throughout the state to the headquarters
office.
A special Board meeting will be held early
in February and the Board will need the help
and assistance of all local bar associations
and the entire membership in making a de-
termination of what position this Association
will take with respect to the proposals con-
tained in such report. Each member ls urged
to study the report, attend his local bar meet-
ing and forward an informed and thoughtful
opinion to the headquarters offlee in order
that the final action of the Board may re-
flect the wishes of the membership.
