JESSE E. MARSHALL
AUTHOR OF NEW IOWA
TITLE OPINION AND
STANDARDS VOLUME
All members of the Association will have
by this time received information about the
new volume entitled Iowa Title Opinions and
Standards, Annotated, prepared by Jesse E.
Marshall, Sioux City, Iowa, Chairman of the
Title Standards Committee, and published by
the Allen Smith Company, 340 East Market
Street, Indianapolis 4, Indiana. This volumb
contains the full text of the Iowa Title
Standards adopted by the Association, with
annotations, explanatory footnotes, and cross
references.
Every member of the Association should
also know that Mr. Marshall is donating all
of the net royalties accruing to him from the
sale of the book to the Iowa State Bar Foun-
dation and is accepting no personal profit
from the book in any way.
The Iowa State Bar Foundation is deeply
grateful to Mr. Marshall for this most gener-
ous gesture, which is in keeping with his many
years of service to the Association and the
Bar generally, as Chairman of the Title
Standards Committee, and a recipient of the
Award of Merit of The Iowa State Bar
Association.
NEWS ABOUT FORMS
Form No. 21.2-Real Estate Contract
(Short Form)
With this issue of THE NEWS BULLE-
TIN is a sample copy of Official Form
No. 21.2.
This is the fourth form to cover real
estate contracts (See forms 20, 21 and
26).
Charles Cornwell, Ed Morrison, Jr.,
and Ray Emmert have produced this
proposed form. With Ed McNeil they
believe there is a place for a shorter,
simpler installment real estate contract
form with a lot of extra space to tailor
the terms.
We are all confident that this will be
a best seller,
Also, Form No. , --Claim for Attor-
ney's Fees in Criminal Cases--should
now be in the hands of every Judge and
every District Court Clerk in Iowa.
This form should focus attention upon
Code Sections which may provide for
more adequate compensation for the
young lawyer in an area where com-
pensation is ordinarily meager.
Respectfully submitted,
Arthur D. Peterson, Burlington
J. G. (Gus) Johnson, Oelwein
Robert R. Eidsmoe, Sioux City
Ray Emmert, Des Moines
Charles E. Cornwell, Mason City
Judge G. Belvel Richter, Waukon
Ed D. Morrison, Jr., Washington
Chairman on Court Forms
Wilbur J. Bridges, Des Moines,
Chairman Committee on Legal
Forms

On Thursday, February 7, the Iowa Senate
passed Senate File 114, an act relating to vol-
untary retirement of judges, and retirement
for cause. This bill is one of three submitted
by The Iowa State Bar Association to the Six-
tieth General Assembly to implement the Ju-
dicial Amendment. An of this writing the bill
is now in the hands of the House Committee
an.Judiciary 1.
The other two bills to implement the Judicial
Amendment, as heretofore referred to in pre-
vious issues of the NEWS BULLETIN, consisting
of (1) a statute relating to nominating com-
missions, etc., and (2) a statute with respect
to the mandatory retirement of judges, are as
of this writing still being considered by the
Judiciary 1 Committee of the Senate.
It is anticipated that the Probate Bill, now
on the Senate calendar, will be voted on soon.
H. F. 264, a bill fixing mandatory retirement
age, is now on the House calendar awaiting
action. The bill as introduced by the House
committee, fixes the mandatory retirement
age for judges at 75 years. In all other
