According to final plans just announced by the Association Tax Committee, the
Association's Fourth Annual Tax School, which will be held at the Hotel Fort Des
Moines, Des Moines, Iowa, on January 13, 14 and 15, 1944, will offer the most
timely and practical courses in taxation ever available to Iowa lawyers. The
purpose of these courses is to enable attorneys to assist their clients not only in
the preparation of income tax returns, but also in tly solution of the many tax
problems wbych today arise in the course of most business transactions. It is
believed that these courses are so de-
signed as to broaden the sphere of the
average Iowa lawyer's professional ac-

Banquet Speaker
Through the efforts of Chief Justice
John E. Mulroney, member of the Taxa-
tion Committee, G. Aaron Youngquist,
one of the outstanding lawyers of the
middlewest, has been secured as the
speaker for the Annual Tax School Ban-
quet to be held in the Grand Ballroom
of the Hotel Fort Des Moines, on Friday
evening, January 14, 1944. The banquet
will be on the second evening of the
School instead of the first evening as in
former years.
Mr. Youngquist, at the present time,
is actively engaged in the practice of
the law in Minneapolis, being a member
of the law firm of Fowler, Youngquist,
Furber, Taney and Johnson. He was
formerly Attorney General of the State
of Minnesota and was an Assistant At-
torney General of the United States
from 1929 to 1933.
Mr. Youngquist has served as Vice-
Chairman of the Section of Taxation of
the American Bar Association, and at
the present time, is a member of the
Council of that Section.
Earlier this year, Mr. Youngquist ad-
dressed the members of the Nebraska
Bar Association at a Tax School similar
to that conducted by the Iowa State Bar
Association. 1
Law Reform Committee
Holds Open Hearing
Mr. Alan Loth of Fort Dodge, chair-
man of the Committee on Law Reform,
has called an open hearing for Decem-
ber 29th, at 9:30 A. M. at Fort Des
Moines Hotel, for the purpose of con-
sidering legislation relating to juvenile
delinquency problems and the revision
of the parole system.
This hearing is open to all members
* of the Bar, who are invited to appear
and express their views.
