Dallas Bar Association Special Membership Meeting

      Dallas Legal Education Center (Belo Mansion)
                  Luncheon, 12 noon - Friday, January 17, 1992


   The DBA Board of Directors has called this special
meeting to vote on bylaw amendments. The voting will
occur immediately prior to the regular Friday Clinic on
January 17, 1992.
   The proposed bylaw amendments relate to Election
procedures and would delete the necessity to accompany a
ballot with a signature stub of the member voting.
   The bylaw revisions to be voted upon are se forth
below (proposed deletions are shown as stricken; proposed
additions are underlined):
   Article XIII, Section 1.(d) - the second to the last
sentence should be amended to read:
       'The written ballot mailed to the Members and
     the manner of its return shall be designed to
     preserve secrecy of the ballot and be in a form and
     conducted in a manner similar to that used in
     connIon with the Bar Poll under Article VII,

We Want to Hear From You
    Many Dallas Bar members engage in pro bon work for
which they do not rcceivc recognition at the I has Pr
IBono Awards Dinner. For instance, you maiy have provided
free legal services to a charity whose primary purpose is to
serve the nieeds of thc poor. You may alo have received pro
bano cases through your church or a civic organization.
    Until now, no formal nechanism has existed for the
recording of such hours  Included as an insert in this issue
of Headnotes is the Dallas Bar Assiation's Annua Pro
Bon.o Services Report  The Dallas Bar w,,ants to know
what other pro bono work you are doing. Please refer to
the Guidelines prited on the reverse of the Report i
filling out the form. We encourage you to take the time te
fill out 0he Report so the D-ills Bar will h-ve abetter
uierstanding of the amount nd nature ofpro bono work
th at DBA aittoneys arc providing.

     coverned by the terms of this Section 1'

   Article XIII, Section 1.(e) - the first sentence should
be amended to read:
     'On the eleventh day after the date of mailing of
     such notice (provided that if such day shall fall on
     Sunday, then on the twelfth day after the mailing of
     the notice), the ballots, which have been returned
     by 5:00 p.m. on the tenth day following the date of
     mailing of such notice in accordance with such
     notice,      ,    ofrrrarrX.J b, a
     ....f.t........      shall be canvassed by a
     committee of not less than three (3) members of the
     Assocation who shall have theretofore been ap-
     pointed by the President.
