Address of fudge Patrick B. O'Sullivan to Candidates
for Admission to the Bar
DELIVERED AT NEW HAVEN IN JULY, 1933

Candidates for admission to the Bar:
I CAN imagine no more pleasant duty than
that which confronts me this morning, to
preside over this Court during these cere-
monies of your admission to the Bar. It is,
of course, a mere platitude to observe that the
profession which you have selected for your

life's work is one of great nobility, surpassed,
if at all, in the sublimity of its ideals, only
by the callings of those who labor in the
temples and who toil among the sick. It
possesses the elements of a great adventure,
full of romance and full of reality. You will
find it frequently tinged with rosy dreams
