It is unfortunate to begin this letter, at
the close- of a warm and halcyon summer,.
with a somber note. We have recently and
suddenly lost a fine jurist and a good
person- Rudylv Johnson. Our sympathy
and warmiest rega_-rds to his famrily.
Our Committee on C omin tees ha-?s now
finalUized the committee assignmnents., The
chairpersonsi are listed in this Bulletin. The
Law Journal.,-1 has promised us that the
,unms of all members of our committees
will be published very shortly. If you have
not submitted <apreference, we welcomie
your comnmitment'. If, by oversight, you
have not been assigned to committees of
you-r preference, please call us.
..............On the com -
mnittee note, an
unpublished as-
signment is the
demanding Law
Day Committee
chair. We are pleas-
ed to announce that
_Les Foschio will
lend- his consider-
able talents to thi
endeavor.
Th e CLE pro-
gr-am, again so
competently chair-
Mike Gibson ed by Harry Brand,
has its programs well in hand. It is likewise
for Morrie Mfesch's Noon-day programs.
There are programns being considered
by the Public Information and Public
Education- Committee. One of these is a
public forum for the towns and villages
where our judges will participate, discuss
and respond to the concerns of our citizens
.regarding the Judicial process. Another
thought is a progr-am, as part of Law WVeek
and in conjunction with the court tours, to
have an instructionalda in court for the
Public.
There was a first seminar last MAayr with
the Canadian Bar Association. We are
planning a second semninar which wvill
focus on immigration and naturalization
problems that confront our lawvyers,

note should be made of Rich Pariser-'s
immediate response to us regarding the
factual inaccuracies of the story. Eq ually of
note was his time-consuming assistance in
the presentation of those inaccuracies to
the media. Having felt the frustration that
was experienced with Hill's story on Judge
Armer, it seemed to us that an immediate,
some-what strong response was
appropriate. Justice M14arshall responded as
well.
There were predictable Arespons§es from
