interviews with rz4 education policymiakers con
ducted from March 18 to April 28, 2021, supple-
mented by other sources. Eleven of t ise inter-
vtewed were Trump Dcpartmcnt of -ducation
(ED) political appointees, with others being con-
servative ecucation ii llectals and a foruer
chief state school officer.

the rule of law to Tile IX sexual assault investiga--
tions, ni  ing studint loans and. college attendanc.e
oL.coecs more transparent to students, increas-
ing ranspcareny in freign donations to US co-
leges and universities, enhancing the role of career
and technical education, guiding state--level irmple-
mentation of the Every Student Succeeds Act
