The annual meeting in Syracuse was well attended last year. I want to thank everyone who
helped make it a wonderful meeting. All the speakers were well received. I noticed that people
were still discussing the programs at dinner. I think we should have more technology programs
in the future. Remember we are always looking for suggestions for upcoming meetings.
I want to remind people that the Spring Institute is coming up soon at Syracuse University
College of law. I hope to see everyone there.
This year the American Association of Law Libraries is in Baltimore. So close and Baltimore is
an exciting city. Remember there are grants from AALL and ALLUNY to attend. Take a look at
the Grants and Award page to see what is available and apply. The programs are exceptional
for all tracks of learning. You will also meet many interesting fellow librarians. Time to network!
We all have different job descriptions, so exciting to learn. The annual meeting for ALLUNY will
be in Buffalo watch for updates. Networking at meetings is essential for your professional
development. There is never a more important time than now to become involved in ALLUNY
and AALL. There are plenty of committees to choose from. Volunteers are always welcome to
help with registration and setup at the meetings.
Our webpage was redesigned last year by Margaret Ambrose. It is mobile friendly now and has
lots of room for information. If you have any news fit to publish please submit it in. If you have job
openings, new people or what is happening in your library please submit it into the webmaster.
Our new webmaster Melissa Sievers is doing a great job of updating. Check it out! Also we need
information for the newsletter too.
Social media is very important these days in communicating what Law Librarianship is all about.
If you haven't already done so I want to encourage everyone to join and participate in LinkedIn
and Twitter. We all have different job descriptions and belong to law schools, court libraries and
law firms. We have many various interests from Artificial intelligence, Blockchain technology to
legal research and traditional library work. NY Upstate Librarians should have a presence in
social media. Let's shout from the roof top our interests and what we do!
