                       Message from the

                       President Amy Emerson

                       Happy Anniversary ALLUNY!

2017 marks the 200 anniversary of ALLUNY as a chapter of the American
Association of Law Libraries. Historical records indicate that although
ALLUNY was founded on June 11, 1954, it wasn't until our second Annu-
al Meeting that ALLUNY adopted a constitution and applied for a charter
as a chapter of AALL. Interested in reading more about ALLUNY's histo-
ry? See materials located here. We appreciate AALL President Ron Wheeler's gracious letter ac-
knowledging ALLUNY's anniversary as well as our organization's many years of contributions to the
 profession (see pg. 3).

 ALLUNY in Action

ALLUNY hosted our 2017 Spring Institute at the Syracuse University College of Law on April 28.

Programming featured several topics, including a lecture by Prof.
David M. Driesen (pictured right) on the rule of law in the Trump
presidency, legal research instruction that provides access to justice,
the Brazilian judicial system, and the history of Harriet Tubman in
upstate New York. We are thankful to Donna Byrne for arranging
the Institute for us, to Jan Fleckenstein for providing the space, and
to Jessica Petitto for arranging the lunch and parking.

More recently, ALLUNY stood out at the AALL Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, where we not only
hosted our annual joint reception with LLAGNY and NJLLA, but also were recognized at the Chap-
ter Leadership Training, where our new newsletter platform was featured as a model for other chap-
ters to follow. Finally, be sure to save the date for our 63rd ALLUNY Annual Meeting, which will
take place October 27 - 29 at the Genesee Grande Hotel in Syracuse. Many thanks to Donna Byrne
for her tireless work in organizing the logistics and programming for this event. We look forward to
 another slate of excellent speakers!

 Passing the Treasurer Torch

We are sad to bid farewell to our Treasurer of seven years, Andrea Molinet. On July 7, Andrea de-
parted the Syracuse University College of Law Library to take a position with The Library Corporation
