Vol. 10 No. 2 and 3 NEWSLETTER February and May 1986
PRESIDENT'S LETTER
BY LYNN C. FULLSHIRE
Spring is here, and summer isn't far behind. This year's AALL
Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. is fast approaching. The 79th
Annual Meeting will be held at the Sheraton Washington Hotel from
July 6th to 9th, 1986. This year's meeting promises to be a continuous
whirl of activity, with at least two programs, one product demonstra-
tion, several tours and a movie offered at each meeting period. If
you haven't made plans to attend, it's still not too late to register
by sending for information to AALL headquarters in Chicago. ALLUNY
will not have a special meeting this year, but those of us attending
do plan to get together, so if you are able to attend, please check
the message board near registration for the time and place of our
meeting.
One of the most interesting duties I have had as President of
ALLUNY is the chance to read the newsletters of the other Chapters.
Not only is the news of their activities interesting, but some of
the articles are truely eye opening. LAW LIBRARIANS OF NEW ENGLAND
NEWS (v.6 no.3, Sept. 1985) has a fascinating article on Cost Effect-
ive Acquisitions by Kendall F. Svengalis. This article reveals
statistics and unfair practices by major publishers, which as law
book consumers we should all be aware of. The March LLNE News issue
(v.7 no.1) has a rebuttal from the President of Callaghan. You be the
judge of how accurate the allegations and responses are. Both articles
are available by sending a request to me at the Supreme Court Law
Library, Rm. 210, Court House, Griffing Ave., Riverhead, NY 11901.
In our August issue I will provide a short list of other outstanding
articles of general interest from the other Chapter newsletters.
