OF 'UPSTATE NEW YORK

Vol. 8 No. 4 NEWSLETTER MARCH 1984

PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Dear ALLUNYites:
Although there is snow on the ground as I write this,
our 1984 annual meeting is not really that far off. Mary
Beth Dunn has been working on the arrangements, and she has
informed me that it will be held October 19-21 at the Niagara
Hilton in Niagara Falls, N.Y. She has also invited the
Canadian Law Library Association, SNELLA and LLAGNY, and
the main speaker will Jacquelyn Jurkins, who is presently
Vice-President/President-Elect of AALL. More details will
be announced later.
AALL has asked us to consider revisions in chapter by-
laws, and has requested that four items be given special
attention. The only one that would be of any concern to our
membership is a proposed amendment that would make AALL
membership mandatory for chapter presidents. Sue Wood is in
charge of the changes, which will be published in a future
newsletter for consideration at the 1984 annual meeting.
Michael Gehringer, 1984 Co-Director of the AALL Institute
on Management Skills for Law Librarians, has sent me informa-
tion on the 1984 session, which is to be held June 27-29, 1984,
at the University of Santa Clara. Let me know if you want
more information and/or application blanks.
The Phoenix Area Association of Law Libraries is compiling
model job descriptions for all levels of library employment,
and would appreciate any sample job descriptions. Send them
to Ms. Karen Lank, Acquisitions, Maricopa County Law Library,
101 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85224.
