Vol. 7 No. 4 NEWSLETTER February 1983
PRESIDENT'S'LETTER
Dear Colleagues,
At the AALL meeting in Detroit this past June, I attended the
breakfast meeting of the Council of Chapter Presidents taking
Jim Lodato's place who couldn't be in Detroit. Twenty Chapters
were represented at an interesting and informative meeting. One of
the goals of the Council is better communication between Chapters and
National. In this effort, each Chapter is requested to designate
a representative to serve as a public relations liaison with National.
Up until now, I have assumed this responsibility, but I would like
to see others in the Chapter have contact with National. If you
would be interested in being ALLUNY's public relations liaison to AALL
for the balance of this year or next year, please let me know.
The ALLUNY Board has agreed to have an exhibit booth with LLAGNY
at the New York State Bar Association's annual meeting in New York
City in April. We hope this will make ALLUNY more visible to the
legal profession. I know some of you have meetings and programs in
your own cities. If you have any materials generated from these
programs that you think would be appropriate to put on display at
our booth, please forward them to me. Also, we will need volunteers
to be at the booth during exhibit hours.
Mary Beth Dunn, Supreme Court Library at Syracuse, has suggested
and volunteered to be Chairperson of a special interest committee
on Legal Resources in Public Libraries and Service to the Public.
I agree with Mary Beth that this Committee can serve a valuable
function in creating an awareness of the law librarian and the profession
in general. I hope you will contact Mary Beth with ideas and support
for this Committee.
Allan Carter, our Vice-President, President-Elect, is working hard
on our next annual meeting. Mark your calendars now for September 23-25,
1983 at Saratoga and start saving your money for a possible evening at
the races.
Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 1983!
Elaine Goldman Blum
