OF UPSTATE NEW YORK

Vol. 4 No. 3 NEWSLETTER MARCH 1979

PRESIDENT'S COLUMN
For the first time, we are revamping our mailing list for the ALLUNY Newsletter.
This will be an ongoing process that will be explained by Carmen Brigandi, Treasurer,
in this issue. I would like to reiterate here that life members will continue to
receive their Newsletters for free, and any other associations, etc. that have swap
policies with us, should contact me for renewal.
We have a new committee this year that also keeps track of our membership and
it is appropriately named the Membership Committee. Headed by Mary Burch, this
committee is in charge of updating the ALLUNY Directory, keeping track of the Memorials
and Life Members, and is presently the bud of our public relations effort. Naturally,
her committee works very closely with the Treasurer, as we all should, to keep our
records as accurate as possible.
This brings me to one more point, and that is sharing ideas with the rest of
the Association. Why don't you make an effort to try to send an idea or information
into our Newsletter Editor for the rest of the Association to share? After all, that
is what this Newsletter is for! (Letters to the Editor, as well as letters to the
President, would also be of interest!!)

SURV EY
Private law libraries (firms, corporations, foundations) will get an opportunity
to describe their preferences and expectations for bibliographic standards and controls
in the proposed LAWNET system. A short survey form will be mailed in January. If you
receive the survey, please complete it promptly and contribute to this effort. Since
no one will be asked to sign the questionnaire, there will be no second notice. If
you do not receive the survey and belong to this kind of library group, contact the
Bibliographic Standards Sub-Committee Advisor: Paul B. Gloeckner, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind,
Wharton & Garrison, 345 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
