From the President
This last year as President of ALLUNY has been an exciting and very productive
year.
We have hosted a very successful convention for over 1000 librarians in Rochester.
Because of this, most of you who have not previously been able to make our local ALLUNY
conventions have now met other members of the chapter. I, as President, personally
thank all of you that gave your time to the Local Arrangements Committee. It was your
help that made the convention run so smoothly!!
We have also been able to present a united front to the Office of Court
Administration on protesting the reclassification of the Supreme Court Library
Personnel. I would like to give special thanks to Mary Burch, Ed Ross, Greta
Drexler and Libby Jessup for their persistence throughout and hope that they keep up
the good work.
I would also like to thank last year's Officers and Board of Directors for their
support and welcomed criticism throughout the year. The first year for any president
of an organization is difficult, but my Officers and Board of Directors made the job
that much easier!
This year, we look forward to the addition of the Membership Committee (chaired
by Mary Burch), and a larger Constitution and By-Laws Committee (chaired by Barbara
Brown). Our dues will be increased to $6.00 per member, and that may put us in line
for a scholarship committee next year.
Mary Burch has resigned as Newsletter editor to pursue a busy life as librarian/
library school student. She has done a fantastic job these past 6 years, and we wish
her the best in her new pursuits. Taking Mary's place as editor is Diane Hillmann of
Cornell University. Diane looks forward (as we do) to an expanded Newsletter that
may even come out more often, due to the added help from ALLUNY members.
This year I look forward to more participation, not only in the Newsletter with
book reviews, convention reports, and letters to the editor, but also in the committees.
If you would be interested in participating in any of the above, please let me know
and I will put you in touch with the person in charge of your area of interest.
One other area of importance concerns the September 1979 annual meeting. If you
have any ideas for topics, time schedules or places to hold the meeting, please let
