THE FOREIGN RELATIONS LAW OF THE

           UNITED STATES 4TH: JURISDICTION

                                     (DRAFTS)

                                 PART IV. ENFORCEMENT

CHAPTER 2. RECOGNITION AND ENFORCEMENT OF FOREIGN JUDGMENTS IN THE
                                     UNITED STATES

§ 420. Judgments Denominated in Foreign Currency

  C.A.D.C.2018. Com. (b) cit. in disc. (citing § 420 of T.D. No. 3, 2017). Public-safety contractor filed a
petition to confirm and enforce an arbitral award against the Hellenic Republic in connection with
security work it performed in Athens, Greece. The district court confirmed the award and entered
judgment in euros as plaintiff had requested; the district court granted plaintiff's post-judgment motion
to convert the award to dollars. This court reversed the arbitral-award conversion and remanded, holding
that the judgment in euros was consistent with governing law permitting judgment in foreign currencies
and that plaintiff did not suffer manifest injustice in receiving the relief it had originally requested. The
court explained that it did not have to address possible conversion dates for foreign-currency judgments,
as addressed in Restatement Fourth of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction § 420 (T.D. No. 3, 2017),
because it was preserving judgment in euros. Leidos, Inc. v. Hellenic Republic, 881 F.3d 213, 219.
