T   he Judicial Division Lawyers Conference Judiciary's Image Evaluation Task Force Chair,
    Alvin Prestwood of Montgomery, AL opened the meeting by approving the minutes
from the 1999 ABA Midyear Meeting in Los Angeles. The second order of business involved
review of the progress gained by the six Task Force sub-groups that concentrate on specific
issues surrounding the judiciary's image. Chair Prestwood began by commending the
leaders assigned to each of the sub-groups as committed to the improvement of the justice
system. He further emphasized that the sub-groups have many miles to travel in their quest
to effectively develop diverse recommendations for addressing their assigned topics. The
deadline for submitting their perspective is January 1, 2000. The structure of the Task Force
includes the following sub-groups:
