NEWSLETTER FROM THE OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

                               Number 66-1 February 15, 1966

   1965 Annual Meeting

Registration at the Annual Meeting for 1965 was something over
1400, which is double the highest number that ever registered before
the 1964 meeting. This great increase in attendance may attest to a
feeling of greater importance for the annual meeting. It also brings
organizational problems. Action will be taken, however, before the
next annual meeting, to expedite the process of checking in and check-
ing out, and to make better arrangements for the faculty recruiting
activities. Constructive suggestions for improving procedures and
activities at the meeting will be welcomed.

   1966 AALS Executive Committee

As a result of the elections at the annual meeting on December
30, 1965, the AALS Executive Committee for 1966 will consist of the
   following:

Myres S. McDougal, Yale Law School, President
Wex S. Malone, Louisiana State University, President-Elect

To serve during 1965 and 1966:

Hardy C. Dillard, University of Virginia
          Joseph T. Sneed, Stanford University

To serve during 1966 and 1967:

Clarence C. Ferguson, Jr., Howard University
John W. Reed, University of Colorado

   New Member: Ohio Northern University

At the first general session of the Annual Meeting on December 28,
1965, the School of Law of the Ohio Northern University was elected a
member of the AALS. Our new colleagues are warmly welcomed.
