SAN DIEGO SMILES DOWN ON CONVENTION
The hard work that went into the preparations of
program and local arrangements committees, valiantly
headed by Penny Hazelton (U.S. Supreme Court Li-
brary) and 0. James Werner (San Diego County Law
Library), combined with glorious California weather
to make the 77th annual meeting of the American
Association of Law Libraries a resounding success.
Approximately one-third of the AALL membership
attended to equal 1,343 paid registrants. Counting
exhibitors, special guests, and families there were
1,810 people registered in the three Convention
hotels.

1984 Convention, Closing Banquet - the 4th of Jly
with flags and red, white, and blue balloons.

Between the multitude of interesting Convention
programs and the many not-to-be-missed San Diego
attractions, time was the most valuable commodity.
In order to avoid waiting for buses, San Diego taxis
had a surge of business during AALL's stay. One
taxi driver was overheard to remark that we were one
of the best groups to come that season'
Congratulations and thanks are extended to the
many people who contributed to the success of this
year's Convention. In particular, thanks to Execu-
tive Director Bill Jepson and the AALL Headquarters
staff for their excellent coordination efforts.
