Docket 26187 to temporarily suspend service on Segment 7 of Route 10 (Chicago-New Orleans) ORDER GRANTING TEMPORARY SUSPENSIONS On March 15, 1974, Eastern Air Lines, Inc. (Eastern) filed applications in Dockets 26186 and 26187 pursuant to Part 205 of the Board's Economic Regulations, requesting a renewal of suspension authority (1) at Cincinnati; and (2) between Chicago and New Orleans. I/ In support of its applications, Eastern alleges, inter alia, that the conditions which led the Board to approve Eastern's existing suspension of service still pertain; 2/ that it would lose $288,414 and $287,140 annually in providing Cincinnati-Fort Lauderdale and Chicago-New Orleans service, 1/ By Order 74-1-33, dated January 4, 1974, Eastern was granted authority to suspend service at Cincinnati on Route 6 and between Chicago and New Orleans on Segment 7 of Route 10. The authority was granted for a period of six months or until the recognized end of the current fuel shortage, whichever came first. 2/ Grant of its initial suspension applications was based upon the facts that: (a).the combined fuel saving from the suspensions would amount to approximately 1.8 million gallons annually; (b) alternative air service would be available via Delta Air Lines between Cincinnati and Fort Lauderdale/ Miami and between Chicago and New Orleans; and (c) during the first ten months of 1973, Eastern enplanements at Cincinnati on its Cincinnati-Fort Lauderdale flight averaged 27.7 passengers per departure and enplanements * at Chicago averaged approximately 29 passengers per departure on its daily one-way Chicago-New Orleans flight.
