                      UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
                      CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD
                          WASHINGTON, D.C.

                           March 3, 1980

Notice of Intent of

      CARDINAL/AIR VIRGINIA, INC. : Docket 37236

to suspend service at Danville, Virginia

ORDER EXTENDING REQUIREMENT TO PROVIDE SERVICE

By Order 80-2-3, dated February 1, 1980, the Board required
Cardinal/Air Virginia to continue to provide essential air service
at Danville, Virginia, for thirty days through March 5, 1980.
During this period we have been evaluating the proposals of Cardinal/
Air Virginia and Mid-South to provide this service on a long-term
basis.

Section 419 of the Act provides that a carrier may be required
to provide service to a point for periods not to exceed 30 days while
the Board seeks a replacement carrier. Since it appears unlikely
that we will find a replacement carrier to provide essential air
transportation before March 5, 1980, we will extend the requirement
that Cardinal/Air Virginia provide the service specified in Order
80-1-22 for an additional 30 day period, through April 4, 1980.

    ACCORDINGLY,

    1. We order Cardinal/Air Virginia to continue to provide
essential air service at Danville, Virginia, specified in Order
80-1-22 for an additional 30-day period, from March 6, 1980 through
April 4, 1980, or until a fit, willing and able replacement carrier
is found by us to be able to inaugurate and maintain essential air
transportation at Danville, whichever occurs first; and

    2. We will serve a copy of this order on the City of Danville,
the Virginia Division of Aeronautics, Cardinal/Air Virginia, and
Mid-South Aviation.
