Ninety Day Notice of

    AIR WISCONSIN, INC. Docket 43935

                       ORDER EXTENDING SERVICE OBLIGATION

On April 4, 1986, Air Wisconsin, Inc. filed a 90-day notice of its intent
to suspend all of its service to Benton Harbor/St. Joseph, Michigan, effec-
tive July 4, 1986. By Order 86-7-16, the Department prohibited Air Wisconsin's
suspension and requested proposals to provide essential air service to Benton
Harbor/St. Joseph from all interested carriers. Also, we indicated that we
would undertake a review of the communities' essential air service requirements
once we received proposals.

Since proposals for replacement service are not due until August 10, we must
require Air Wisconsin to continue to provide essential air service to the
communities. Therefore, in accordance with section 419(a)(6) of the Act,
we will extend Air Wisconsin's service obligation at Benton Harbor/St. Joseph
for a 30-day period through September 2, 1986, or until completion of the es-
sential air service case, whichever occurs first.

This order is issued under authority assigned in 14 CFR Part 385.

ACCORDINGLY,

1. The Department requires Air Wisconsin, Inc., to maintain essential air
service between Benton Harbor/St. Joseph, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois,
for 30 days, through September 2, 1986, or until a replacement carrier that
is capable of providing essential air service actually begins service, which-
ever  occurs first;

2. The Department directs Air Wisconsin to retain all books, records and
other sources and summary documentation, including copies of interline
flight coupons, to support claims for payments for the service the carrier
is being required to maintain and to preserve and maintain such documentation
in d manner that readily permits the audit and examination thereof by repre-
sentatives of the Department of Transportation; and
