ACTS PASSED AT NORWICH IN JUNE 1785
AN ACT TO AUTHENTICATE THE DEEDS THEREIN MENTIONED
JUNE 7TH, 1785
Whereas it appears that Josiah Powers of Brandon late -
Neshobe on Otter Creek Deceased did in his lifetime for a valuable
consideration make Execute and deliver to Amos Cutler a certain
Deed of a Right or Share of Land in Brandon late Neshobe afore-
said. Dated the tenth day of June AD 1774 witnessed by Benjamin
Powers the Second and John Powers and that before said Deed was
acknowledged the said Josiah Powers Died and that the witnesses to
said Deed are also Dead.
And whereas it also appears that Benjamin Powers late of Said
Neshobe Deceased did in his lifetime for a valuable consideration
execute and deliver to Benjamin Gaffield of Grafton in the County of
Windsor a certain Deed of a full Right or Share of Land in the Town-
ship of Sudbury on Otter Creek dated the eleventh day of June AD
1774 witnessed by Zachariah Eddy and Benjamin Powers Second
and that the said Benjamin Powers before said Deed was acknowledged
died and the said witnesses are likewise Dead, whereby the Interest
of the Said Amos Cutler and Benjamin Gaffield is not secure in Law.
Wherefore be it enacted and it is hereby enacted by the Repre-
sentatives of the Freemen of the State of Vermont in General Assembly
met, and by the authority of the same; that the aforesaid Deed be and
they shall ever hereafter be considered from the several dates of said
Deeds in all Courts and in all respects whatever as valid and shall
as effectually bind the property meant to be conveyed by the same as
though said deeds had been acknowledged in the lifetime of the sev-
eral grantors before proper authority according to the usual form
and Ceremonies in such cases used.

Whereas it appears that Thomas Shirley did in his lifetime
Execute to Jonathan Goodwin a Deed of a certain Right or Share of
