to amend Ordinance of June 1, 1937, creating an Official Lottery in the Muni-
cipality of St. Thomas and St. John to be known as the St. Thomas Virgin Isl-
ands Lottery, to provide funds for hospitalization, sanitation, education, poor
relief; and for other purposes, as amended by Ordinance of November 8, 1937;
January 21, 1938; December 21, 1938 and July 1, 1939.
Be it enacted by the Municipal Council of St. Thomas and St. John in session assembled:
That the Ordinance creating an Official Lottery in the Municipality of St. Thomas and
St. John to be known as the St. Thomas Virgin Islands Lottery; to provide funds for hos-
pitalization, sanitation, education, poor relief; and for other purposes, be and is hereby
amended as follows:
Section 8 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 8. The issuance of tickets shall always be made for the entire ticket, divid-
ed into not less than tenths, nor more than thirtieths, and no lesser or greater division
thereof shall be permitted.
The last sentence of Section 5 is hereby further amended to read as follows:
The amount to be distributed in prizes cannot be more than 80c/o of the total value
of the tickets corresponding to each drawing.
Thus passed by the Municipal Council of St. Thomas and St. John at the extraordi-
nary meeting held January 29, 1940.
