AN ACT
relating to the prosecution, punishment, and certain criminal and civil consequences of offenses
involving or related to the trafficking of persons and to certain protections for victims of those offenses.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
ARTICLE 1. TRAFFICKING OF PERSONS AND COMPELLING PROSTITUTION
SECTION 1.01. Section 20A.01, Penal Code, is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 20A.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) Child means a person younger than 18 years of age.
(2) Forced labor or services means labor or services, other than labor or services that
constitute sexual conduct [including conduct that constitutes an offense under Section
4302], that are performed or provided by another person and obtained through an actor's
use of force, fraud, or coercion[
[(A) causing or threatening to causeP bodily injup' to the person or another person o
otherie causina the4 person performina or providinga labor or2 serices, to believe that

[(B) restraining or threatening to restrain the person or another person in a mner
described by Section 20.01(1) or causing the person performing or provi4ding labor or

[(C) knowingly destro 4ng, coneealing, removing, confiscating, op wthholding from the
person or another person, or threatening to destroy, conceal, remove, confiscate, or

[(i) government records;
[(ii) identffng information; or
[(iii) personal Property;
