1                                AN ACT
2    RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT; ENACTING PROVISIONS APPLYING TO INDIAN
3    TRIBES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES UNDER THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
4    LAW.

6    BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
7          Section 1. Section 51-1-2 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1979,
8    Chapter 280, Section 11, as amended) is amended to read:
9          51-1-2. DEFINITIONS.--As used in the Unemployment
10    Compensation Law:
11               A. department means the labor department;
12               B. division means the employment security
13    division of the labor department, the director of the division
14    or an employee of the division exercising authority lawfully
15    delegated to the employee by the director; and
16               C. secretary means the secretary of labor or an
17    employee of the department exercising authority lawfully
18    delegated to the employee by the secretary.
19         Section 2. Section 51-1-42 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1936
20    (S.S.), Chapter 1, Section 19, as amended by Laws 2000,
21    Chapter 3, Section 4 and also by Laws 2000, Chapter 7, Section
22    4) is amended to read:
23         51-1-42. DEFINITIONS.--As used in the Unemployment
24    Compensation Law:
25               A. base period means the first four of the last
