EDWARD LLOYD, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR. C Ii A P. I. An ACT to settle and ascertain the Salary of the Members of the ascd 6t, of Jan iSo. Council for the ensuing Year. 'E IT ENACTED, by the General .Istnbly of Maryland, That each member of the council shall be- .IJ entitled to receive, for the ensuing year, the sum of two hundred pounds current money for Lis salary. C H A P. II. An ACT for the relief of John Cooper, of Anne-Arundel County. 11 asd 6tl o Jan. 18,0. HEREAS John Cooper, of Anne-Arundel county, emigrated to, and settled in, this state, Wand since his emigration as aforesaid hiiacquired real property therein, and his title to such property may be called in question, to his great injury, from his not having become naturalized agree- able to the laws of the United States before the purchase of such real property ; therefore, If' B, IT ENACTED, bi the-Gentral &stmbly of Maryland, That the title of the real'property law,- fully and fairly acquired by the aforesaid John Cooper, whether such title be derived by gift, grant, purchase or devise, be and the same is hereby as amply and as fully vested in the said John Cooper, Iiis heirs, and assigns, for ever, as if the said John Cooper had become naturalized agreeable to the laws of the United States before. the acquiring such real property ; provided always, that nothing in this a& contained shall in any manner defeat or affe&'any right, title or claim, to the said proper- ty,. or any part thereof, acquired or prosecuted by any person or persons whatever before the passage of this a& ; and provided also, that the said John Cooper shall, on or before the fourteenth day of November, eighteen hundred and ten, proceed according to law to make himself a citizen of the United States, otherwise this a6t shall have, no, effee' t6 confirm his title to the property above mientioned, C H' A P. II!. An ACT for the support of W illiam W heler, of Monlgomery County. Jail, . HEREAS William Wheler, of Montgomery county, by his petition to this general assembly, W has set forth; that he is far advanced in age, and being much affli6ted with a dropsical habit, and other-bodily infirmities incident to old age, has -rendered him unable to provide for himself any longer, and having all aged wife which is not able to afford him any assistance, which ,rendcrs a situation in the poor-house very unfavourable to your petitioner, your petitioner therefore humbly -prays that your honourable body will take his case into consideration, and. grant him such relief o',,*: of the poor.house ; and the faas stated in his petition appearing true, therefore, II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General i4sseinbly of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court, Montgomery county shall, and they are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually. so long: they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property of said county, a sum of mofn' not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support and maintenance of the said William Wheler, anti t the same be collected annually by-the colle6tor of Montgomery county, and by him paid to the William Wheler, or his order.
