In compliance with the resolution of the House of Representatives of
the 27th ultimo, I now transmit the letter and pamphlet which accompa.
nies this.

The Secretary of State, to whom was referred the resolution of the House
c1r Representatives of the 27th ultimo, requesting the President to transmit
to that House the laws passed by the Governor and Legislative Council
of the Territory of Florida at the last session, has the honor to lay before
the President a printed copy of those laws, sent to this Department in
compliance with the 4th section of an act of' Congress, entitled An act
to equalize representation in the Territory of Florida, and fhr other pur
poses, approved June 18,183.1, which provides that it shall be the duty of
the Secretary of the Territory to superintend the printing and revision of
the laws, and it shall be his duty to send a printed and not a manuscript
copy to the Department of State, and another printed copy to the Secre-
tary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives of the United
States, to he laid before Congress. This being the only copy of hose
laws in thel Department, I would respertkilly request that' it may be re-
turned.   -
