Passed March 10, 1864.
I. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that tie sixth section of Oi ame,,n,,dedt
chapter ninety-eigh't of the Code of Virginia (edition of eighteen
hundred And sixty) be amended and re.enacted so as to read as
.follows:
§ 6. For every twelve hours' service each captain of a patrol c-,1 ,,.nsuflon
shall be entitled to compensation not exceeding five dollars, and Of imirol,
eveT other Imai of the patrol not exceeding four dollars, at the dis-
cretion of tle court of the county or corporation where the service
is rendered; which shall he chargeable to the county or corporation
to which such patrol may belong..

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that section second of Led,. saneded
chapter twelve of the Code of Virginia (edition of eighteen hundred
and sixty) be amended and ro-nacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2.' No person shaill be capable of holding any such post wh.. Who not tehld
holds any post of profit, trust or emolument, civil or military, lgis-  
lative, executive or judicial, under the governmeut of the Confd0he-
rate States, or who reeives ill any way from the Confederate Stales
an) emolument whatever: provided, that nothing ill this section 1r,,is,,
shall, until six months after the ratification of a treaty of peace be-
tween the Confederate States and the United States, be so construed as
to prevent any of the several officers of this state, whose duty it may
be to list, assess and collect the public revenue, from being enlplo)ed
by the Confederate States, within their respective counties and cor-
poiratiolts, in the listing, a.sessment and collection of. the public
revenue of the Confederate States: and provided further,. that this orUaeco not
act sliall not be construed to repeal. or alter any ordinance of tie r1PIaledt or
late convention of Virgitnia, enab1in persons in the service of the altered,
Confederate States to accept or aet in any civil capacity in the ser-
vice of this state during the existing war.'

CHAI'. 62.-An ACT repealing all laws authorizing Insurance of Tobacco
by tile State, taid amiending the 59th section of chapter 87 of the Code
(edition of 1860), so ts to render the Iuspector liable to the owiiers qf
Tobacco in certain erses.

1. Be it enacted by the Feneral assembly, that the fifty-fifth, fifty- Sections re-
sixth and fifty-seventh  ections of chapter eighty-seven of the Code pealed
of Virginia (edition of eighteen huindred rand sixty), and all acts
amendatory thereof, are hereby repealed.
2.\*The fifty.ninth section of chapter eighty-seven of the Code code ameonde
(edition of eighteen hunidred and sixty), shall be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
