Codeamended 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that the firstisecond
and fourth sections of chapter onie hundred and ninety-eight of the
Code of Virginia (edition of eighteen hundred and sixty) be amended
and re-enacted so as to read its follows:
Plenaliy for un-. § 1. A free person who shall keep or exhibit a gaming table,
lawfo gam ing commonly called A B C,'or E 0 table, or faro link, or table of like
o~nco ,kind, under any denomination, whether the game or table be played
with cards, or any evasive substifite for cards, dice, or otherwise, or
who shall be a partner, or concerned in interest, or employed or en
gaged in any manner in the keeping or exhibiting such table or bafik,
or who shall permit the keel) or exhibition of such table or bank
* in any room or apartment of lis hous or premises, shall, upon con.-
viction thereof, be deemed to be guilty of ain infamous offence, in the
menning of theconstitution of this state, and sihall be confined in
njait not ess than two nor more fitan twelve months, andbe fined pot
less than one hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars,
