ChAP. 254.-An ACT to refund to James S. Connell and Daniel Polsley
a Bum of money Improperly paid by thom into the Treasury astax on land
in Roano County.
PasBed March 28,1861.
Amount        1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that the auditor of
appropriated  public accounts be and is hereby authorized and direQted to issue his
warrant on the treasury, in favor of James S. Connell of Kanawha
county and Daniel Polsley of Mason county, jointly, for the sum of
two hundred and ninety dollars and forty cents, payable out of any
Erroneous   money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated; the said sum
ascessment, for
what yearsm  being the mount of tax on a tract of land in Roane county for tho
years eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, eighteen hundred and fifty-
eight and eighteen bindred and firty-nine, erroneously assessed
against the said James S. Connell and Daniel Polsley, and by them
paid into the treasury.
Commeneement  2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
CuAP. 255.-An ACT allowing compensation to Parsha A. ]owlces and
Joseph C. Fowlkces, for the arrest e1 three Convicts escaped from the Jail
of Lunenburg County.

Amount         1. Be it enacted by the. general assenIbly, that the auditor of
appropriated  pullic accounts be and he is hereby authorized to issue his warrant
on the treasury, payable out of any money therein not otherwise ap-
propriated, in favor of Para, A. Fowlkes and Joseph C. Fowlkes
of the county of Nottoway, or their legal representatives, for the
sum of one hundred dollars; the said sum being compensation for
the arrest of three slaves, Dick, John and Collin, who were con-
demned to be hung by the county court of Lunenburg county, and
who had escaped from the jail of said county.
Commencement  2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
ClUlA. 256.-An ACT authorizing the Circuit Court of Amelia County to
make allowance to certain children of William It. Wilson, a lunatic.
Passed April 1, 1861.
Circuit court  1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that the circuit court of
power to mako the county of Amelia, on the petition of the adult children of William
ulowumec
I. Wilson of Amelia county, or any of them (which said Wilson is
a lunatic, and confined in one of the lunatic asylums of the state),
